Are certain foods triggering your sypmtoms?

Hello everybody this is Dr.G from Gildea Health and Wellness.

I would like to introduce two new tests I am very excited about.  Now many patients in the past have asked me about food sensitivity testing but I was not confident in the testing company’s results to recommend them. Until, now that is.  One of my colleagues found this great company called KMBO Diagnostics.

After all, food sensitivities and related diseases affect at least 100 million people worldwide today with these sensitivities causing a wide variety of illnesses ranging from skin rashes and headaches to chronic intestinal diseases.

1). The first test is the FIT test. The FIT or food intolerance test, measures the sensitivity to 132 foods, colorings and additives spanning all major food groups. This test employs unique methods that detect both IgG antibody and immune Complexes together to determine the reactivity of each sample against a wide variety of food antigens.

Measuring IgG and Immune Complexes together increases the sensitivity over other tests which measure IgG alone.

With the FIT test you get a 7 day meal plan based on your results which gives you a starting point to your elimination diet. The FIT test has helped many patients with the following symptoms:

                                        Anxiety/Depression

                                        Bloating/Stomach Pain

                                        Inability to Lose Weight

                                        Impotence/Libido

                                        Fatigue/Insomnia

                                        Joint Pain

                                        Constipation/Diarrhea

                                        Craving Sugar

2). the second test is the Zonulin test. Zonulin is a protein that modulates the permeability of the intestinal wall and therefore is a key biomarker for intestinal permeability.  It is the only regulator of intestinal permeability that is reversible and is one of the three methods to test for ‘leaky gut’ along to Candida and food sensitivities.

Having a leaky gut means your intestinal barriers or tightly joined cells which open and close when necessary, are not working properly anymore. This opening and closing is controlled by Zonulin so if too much Zonulin is produced the cells remain open allowing food to get into the bloodstream causing autoimmune reactions.

So why test for Zonulin?

Measuring Zonulin can help assess a leaky gut.

If Zonulin can be measured in your blood, there is evidence of tissue damage.

If Zonulin is present there greater than 95% confidence that there is a loss in intestinal function. Elevated Zonulin can lead to: Autoimmune disease

                                                     Celiac Disease/Non-Celiac gluten sensitivity

                                                     Type I Diabetes/Adult Glucose Intolerance or insulin resistance

                                                      Juvenile Nonalcoholic fatty liver Disease

                                                     Rheumatoid Arthritis

                                                      Asthma

                                                      Inflammatory Bowel Disease

                                                     

There are some people with no symptoms or known problems who just want to know if they are sensitive to certain foods. In this case we can run the FIT test alone.  However, for those people with symptoms or known diseases processes I recommend both tests together.

This would let us know if your gut has to heal or if you just need to remove certain foods you are sensitive to.

After running the Zonulin test, I recommend a follow up test a few months down the road to assess progress.

We have the test kits available now. You take the kit to a Lab Corp near for a blood draw and then we contact you in one to two weeks to go over the results.
